How to Get to the Shrine in the Snow Cold Area of Great Sky Island in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
If you remember your time in BOTW, you are probably familiar with the cold resistance concept. Like in BotW, one of the Shrines in the first area (Great Sky Island) will be impossible to reach without cold resistance. That’s because the third Shrine in TOTK is atop a snowy mountain. This shrine is called the Gutanbac Shrine. In order to reach it, you’ll need to be prepared! Firstly, you’ll need to stock up on a lot of cold-resistance food. Just like in BOTW, you’ll need a lot of spicy pepper! Mix this food with basically any other ingredients, and you’ll get some sort of spicy food. This food provides you with a time-limited Cold Resistance, and it heals you a few Hearts. Check out some of the recipes below!
How to Climb Frozen Cliffs in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
However, even with Cold Resistance food, you will have some other obstacles. The Gutanbac Shrine is atop an isolated flat-topped hill with steep sides. And those sides are frozen and slippery. Hence, you will not be able to climb them. So, how do you reach the Shrine in a snow-cold area of Great Sky Island? You will need to use your Ultrahand ability. If you don’t have an Axe, equip a tree branch and Fuse a rock or boulder with it. Then use that new weapon to cut some trees. Around four or five trunks will be enough.
Now, glue these five trunks with your Ultrahand to create a bridge. When you have a long enough ramp made of trunks, position it on a cliff so that you can reach the upper non-slippery part. Now climb via the bridge on the top, and head to the Gutanbac Shrine! Once you finish the Shrine, you will also find your first Cold Resistance Armor in the game!
