Zelda Breath of The Wild How to get shock arrows - Divine Beast Vah Ruta

Shock arrows are a type of ammunition in Zelda Breath of the Wild. They’re great against enemies with a weakness to lightning. Sadly, they can be a bit hard to obtain. During the Divine Beast of Vah Ruta quest, you’ll have to get 20 shock arrows, which are scattered around Ploymus Mountain. There’s an extremely dangerous Lynel there. In this guide, we’re going to show you how to get shock arrows in Zelda Breath of The Wild.

Shock arrows in Divine Beast of Vah Ruta quest

You’ll need the Zora armor to get up Ploymus Mountain and start collecting the arrows. The first dozen or so will be scattered on the slopes, while the rest are in the arena where the vicious Lynel awaits. You won’t be able to defeat it at this point. Your best bet is to sneak around the arena, get behind it and pick up the rest of the arrows. If you have a sneaking potion, now is the time to use it. Be sure you take a picture of the Lynel – you can cash it in back at Zora’s Domain.

Where to find lightning arrows

If you need shock arrows for some other purpose, you can buy them from several vendors. One of them is in Gerudo Town, in the southwest corner of the map. Once you’ve got the outfit that lets you enter Garudo City, just stroll up to the bazaar and look for a merchant dealing in arrows, on the western side of the market. She offers lightning arrows as well, and asks for 140 rupees for a bundle of 10. If you’re having cash issues, be sure to check out our rupee farming guide.

I was thinking… If you hit an enemy with a shock arrow, don’t they drop their weapons? Does that work with lynels too?

If so, one would be able to collect one shock arrow, shoot the lynel, grab its stuff making it vulnerable, and kill it with relative ease? That would make it much safer to gather the rest of the arrows.

You can buy shock arrows in Lurelin Village too, out on the boardwalk. 🙂

Where is that village. Sorry I’ve only been playing like a week but I feel like I’m kinda far. But where is that village. So far I only have Hateno village and Kakariko village. And I need shock arrows for the elephant beast but I don’t have the stuff to beat the monster

It is in the far south east corner of the map.

If you want to kill the Lynel (he drops 10-20 shock arrows, Lynel hooves, a Lynel Bow, and a Lynel Shield) you should make sure you have a lot of food (his attacks do 2 3/4 hearts) and lots of regular arrows. While he’s resting up to charge at you, shoot him in the face then mount him and hit him with your best sword over and over. With a 50 power sword, this took me around 5 or 6 times to kill.

It may have taken longer than the boss fight in Vah Ruta, and may have cost me all of my food and ingredients and whatever, but the Lynel IS killable. Had he dropped 10 shock arrows, his sword, his shield, and lynel hooves.

I did that once on my second playthrough. I just collected every weapon I could on the Zora trail, and then broke every. single. one. on that lynel. All it took was plenty of flurry rushes and he dropped exactly 20 shock arrows, so I think Nintendo did that to make killing the lynel a legitimate (but hardcore) strategy for that quest,
