Witcher 4 Cinematic Trailer Released
After a slew of rumors in the past months we’re finally blessed with the Witcher IV cinematic trailer. CD Projekt Red, the developer and publisher of the Witcher games, decided to release the first Witcher 4 trailer during the 2024 Game Awards show. The cinematic trailer is the first sign of the game being in development. It was pre-rendered in Unreal Engine 5, so it is not actual gameplay footage. It’s just there to whet our appetite. Beside it being a rather nice looking trailer that brings back the world of Witcher back into our lives there’s not much to be discerned from it. There was no possible Witcher 4 release date hinted or anything similar. No actual gameplay mechanics or UI looks were present. The only thing that we can probably say for certain is that the main protagonist of Witcher 4 will be Ciri!
Witcher 4 Cinematic Trailer Breakdown
The trailer shows exactly the world of Witcher as we remember it. That is why there’s such hype about it in the gaming community. We see a mysterious figure with two swords on their back, a sure sign of a Witcher. There are villagers and a maiden being sent to a dark forest. Turns out the mysterious figure is Ciri. During the fight we can see Ciri using signs. At one point Ciri drinks a potion, and from the looks of it it is the Cat potion that lets her see better in dark. She uses the Quen sign to shield herself from frontal attack. At one point she draws power from water. This seems to buff her, so we might be looking at new abilities here. The strength she draws from water gives her an electrical punch. We’ll see how this falls into the Witcher lore. Trailer is a must see for any Witcher fan and I can’t wait to hear more about the game in the coming years.
