Witcher 3 is getting its PS4 Pro update, after all
It would appear that CD Projekt has serious withdrawal syndromes when it comes to Witcher 3. A year ago they said they have stopped working on it and no upgraded version for PS4 Pro will be coming out. Then, out of the blue, they just announce it coming in “a few days”. Perhaps the wonderful PAX panel (see below) attended by the members of Witcher team has changed their mind.
As CD Projekt president, Adam Kicinski, says: “We’ve prepared a 4K version which will be available on PlayStation Pro in just a few days and by the end of the year it will be available on Xbox One X.” The news was initially confirmed when logo of the Witcher 3 showed up during one of Microsoft’s presentation, but no one expected it to happen this fast.
The financial presentation of CD Projekt’s half-year was also held today. It painted a picture of a successful company. Currently, there were 700 people in the company, with the plans to grow to 800. CD Projekt itself has 550 people (split between Cyberpunk 2077 and Gwent) and 150 are employed at Good Old Games. Not bad for a fully self-reliant studio with one of the strongest IPs in the last 10 years.
Of course, the Cyberpunk 2077 project is being kept strictly hush-hush, but it is nice to see that they are not yet ready to say goodbye to Witcher 3. We really thought the vinyl edition of the soundtrack was the final touch. For those who have not played it yet (all five of them), the upgraded console version will be a nice way to immerse themselves in the wonderful world of Witcher.
Do you have to buy a whole new game or will it be released as an update for current owners?
It’s an update, all current owners will receive it I guess.
