Witcher 3 PlayStation 4 Pro HDR Patch is Still in the Works

The planned Witcher 3 HDR patch for the PlayStation 4 Pro is still happening. CD Projekt Red just decided to postpone its launch. The reason is that the developers ran into a few more bugs, so they’re working on ironing out the kinks. Better late than buggy, I’d say.

Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt really needs no introduction. It’s a huge, expansive game chock-full of things to do, where almost every choice matters in some way. It’s a critical darling, and audiences love it as well. You could fairly easily argue that Witcher 3 is one of the best games ever made, and it has sold over 33 million units across all platforms. However, with everything that the game has, there’s one minor thing that it lacks. Graphics-wise, it hasn’t kept in stride with the newer-generation consoles, namely the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.

CD Projekt Red has been talking for a while abut a patch that would update the visuals in Witcher 3 for the Xbox One X and PlayStation 4. Originally, they planned to release the update this past holiday season; back in December, to be exact. However, nothing has come of it as of now. Fortunately, that doesn’t mean that the patch is completely out of the question. Marcin Momot of CD Projekt Red recently tweeted: “PS4 Pro HDR patch is still very much in development. Due to the fact that we’ve discovered some additional bugs along the way, we need more time to finish it. We don’t want to compromise the quality of the update, so we would like to ask you for a bit more patience.”

So, there you have it. The patch is still happening, just later than we originally expected. Just stay patient, I’m sure it’ll be out fairly soon. Incidentally, the patch will also work on the normal PlayStation 4.
