Walkthrough
Following contains quest spoilers. You’ve been warned
Go to the abandoned camp.
A notice on the board will mention that a patrol has been lost and that there is a reward for whoever finds it. Enter the Emhyr’s tent and speak with quartermaster Eggebracht. Ask him for work and he’ll tell you to find the abandoned camp to the northwest, across the lake.
Watch out for nekkers as you enter the swampy area, then cross the lake to the woodlands to the northwest.

Search the area using your Witcher Senses.
You’ll find the abandoned camp at the northwestern part of the lake. Use your Witcher Senses to inspect the campfire and sees that the soldiers left in a hurry and that footprints lead into the forest. Follow them.
You will reach a point where you’ll feel an overpowering stench. Follow it to find draconid musk on the ground. You’ll have three or four of these piles to inspect while fighting bandits and nekkers.
Go back and continue following the footprints until you encounter a bear. There is a corpse nearby; it has been poisoned. Head down the path to the southeast and follow the tracks to a treeless hillside.

Kill the Wyvern.
At that point, a Wyvern will descend down from the sky. Consult the bestiary for information on how to defeat it. The Wyvern is vulnerable to Golden Oriole potion, Grapeshot bomb, Draconid oil, and the Aard sign.
Take the trophy.
Once you’ve killed the winged beast, loot its corpse for the ingredients and the trophy.
Return to the Nilfgaardian camp.
You can now return to the quartermaster and report what you’ve found. Or you can continue down the path you were on when you came up to the wyvern and track more footprints that lead down into a ravine and to a ghoul nest in the tunnel of a cavern. You’ll find the body of a villager at the end. Then return to the quartermaster and tell him that. Angered, he’ll tell you not to poke your nose into Nilfgaardian business.
Regardless of what you choose to do, the quartermaster will offer you your reward, which you can refuse if you do not fancy crowns. The contract will then be completed.
