How to Use Items Tales of Arise
Tales of Arise is out and one of the most common questions concerning it is – how to use items? And while questions such as this may appear to have very obvious and self-evident answers, the fact of the matter is that the items system in ToA has a couple of particularities that make it a bit harder and less intuitive than the inventories in most other games of this type. To help you get over that initial hurdle when trying to utilize items, our How to Use Items Tales of Arise guide will explain everything concerning item usage.
Tales of Arise How to Use Items
During the course of the game, you will accumulate many items. All of these are in your inventory, in the Items section. Here, both the usable items – such as consumables – and other equipment, are placed in the same list. New players can get confused by this system, since they are used to, for example, having the option to immediately equip a weapon or piece of armor from that inventory menu. However, in order to actually be able to equip gear on your team members, you will need to navigate to the Equipment section. In here, you now have the option to equip your characters with weapons, armor, and other items.
This applies to using items out of combat. When you use an item – such as a consumable – when you aren’t engaged in combat, its effects will be immediate, and you will be free to consume another item straight away. In combat, if you want to, for example, heal or revive a party member, this functions differently. When you consume an item during combat, this will be accompanied by a short animation (during which your character will be vulnerable, so pay attention to their positioning), and you won’t be able to use another item for a couple of seconds. Once this cooldown is over, you will then be able to use another item again.
