How to Use Boost Pack Starfield
Can’t figure out how to use a boost pack in Starfield, or a jetpack, if you prefer to call them that? Don’t worry, we’re here to help you out. The catch with this mechanic is that it’s not enough to just equip the pack. No, your character first needs to learn how to use them. Great, and how does that work? Well, you need to invest in a particular skill, of course. Let’s get right into it!
How to Use Boost Pack and Jetpacks in Starfield
In order to use your boost pack and jetpacks in Starfield, which really are the same exact thing, you have to invest at least one Skill Point into Boost Pack Training. It’s in the Tech skill tree, on the Novice level. Therefore, you should have access to it pretty quickly. And given how valuable the extra mobility you get with the boost packs, I’d recommend investing that skill point pretty early on. By the way, you activate the jetpack by pressing the jump button while you’re already mid-air. Pretty much exactly how it works in Destiny and every other game that has a jetpack. As all the other skills in the game, Boost Pack Training has four ranks. The further you develop it, the more powerful it becomes. Here’s what happens in each rank.
- Rank 1 – You can now utilize boost packs.
- Rank 2 – Using a boost pack expends less fuel.
- Rank 3 – Boost pack fuel regenerates more quickly.
- Rank 4 – Doubles the bonuses of previous ranks.
And there you go, that’s how you use the boost pack or the jetpacks in Starfield. Another thing we want to mention before we wrap up is that there’s several types of boost packs; four, to be exact. Basic jetpacks are just your standard-issue equipment without any special properties. Power boost packs thrust you upwards with more power, but offer fewer charges. Conversely, the Velocity boost packs give you more charges, but with less power. Lastly, there are the Balanced packs, which are the golden middle between the other two. And that’s basically all you need to know on the subject. For more help with Starfield, check out our other guides, like Vanguard Piloting Exam Tier 6 Completion and Starfield Vendor Locations.
