Starfield City Map, Local Map Layouts
Does Starfield have city layouts for local maps? As a game focused on space exploration, the map in Starfield you’ll most often use is the one with solar systems and planets. However, once you land on a planet or on a moon, players will want something better to navigate the unknown terrain. Here’s what we know about local Starfield maps with city layouts for Neon, Akila, and New Atlantis.
Does Local Starfield Maps Have City Layouts?
So, are there local maps for cities in Starfield? As you might have guessed by now – no. Unfortunately, for some reason, Starfield local maps don’t have city layouts when you are in a city. That means that you won’t be able to navigate easily when you are in New Atlantis, Neon, or other big cities. Instead, “local maps” only show the topography of the terrain. In addition, when you are in the city, you can use your scanner to highlight local points of interest relative to your current position. This makes navigating through the city somewhat easier. Still, the lack of proper city maps in Starfield remains one of the biggest criticisms of the game at launch.
“Exploring New Atlantis, and this is somewhat of an annoyance, not knowing where my objectives are because the map is only geographic and doesn’t show the city layouts when it is so massive,” complains Reddit user Roadraider. And many other players currently agree with him. It’s perfectly fine to have topographic maps in open, uninhabited areas on faraway moons. Having no map layouts in the cities, however, seems like a major oversight.
Hopefully, Bethesda will eventually implement city maps in Starfield, as right now navigating through the cities is extremely tedious. If not Bethesda, then someone from the modding community will surely take over the task and provide a good solution for the issue. We will make sure to update the article once mods with city layouts become available. Hopefully, it will happen soon. If you know a good mod for this, share it with us in the comments section!
