Star Wars Battlefront 2 Single Player Story Trailer Released
The new story trailer for Star Wars Battlefront 2 reveals more details about the main characters and the events of the single player campaign. In the video, several members of the cast and the development team talk about their dedication to delivering a good story that ties with the rest of the Star Wars universe. There’s even brief gameplay footage.
Spoiler alert: There will be minor Star Wars Battlefront 2 spoilers from here. If you want to go into the game knowing nothing, consider yourself warned.
As many have assumed from the material released so far, the story of Battlefront 2 will focus on the Empire’s perspective of events. Our main character, Iden Versio, is the commander of the Inferno Squad, a secret Empire black-ops team, which was present on Endor when the Rebellion destroyed the second Death Star. Iden is from the planet Vardos, which is under tight imperial control. She was taken into child training camps as very young, so her whole life revolves around being an imperial soldier. Therefore, when the Empire falls and the Emperor dies, she has to take a long look at herself, who she is, and what her future holds.
We also get to meet several other cast members and their characters. First, there’s Hask, who appears to be a grizzled veteran from the Empire. He’s fanatically loyal; the Empire has been his family since he was orphaned. Then there’s Del, who was born on Coruscant. He seems to be very lighthearted, and he’s seen a lot of the galaxy before settling into the imperial army. Finally, to add the necessary Star Wars family element, we meet Iden’s father, Admiral Versio. He loves his daughter deeply, and doesn’t want to see her hurt. Following all of these characters and their evolution through the fall of the Empire will certainly be thrilling to follow.
However, the ending shot of the trailer takes the cake for me. For only a few seconds, we get to see a figure in red, standing with Iden and her father. Just as the shot fades, a hologram of the Emperor’s face appears on its red helmet. Clearly, old Darth Sidious has more tricks up his sleeve than anyone expected.
