Skyrim Announced for Nintendo Switch, Will Have Amiibo Support
The Nintendo Switch version of Skyrim has been officially announced by Bethesda at E3. The game will utilize the new console’s features to its advantage. It will make full use of the motion controls for actions like lockpicking and combat. Better yet, Skyrim on the Switch will have Amiibo support, allowing you to unlock Nintendo gear in the game.
Bethesda has officially confirmed the Nintendo Switch version of Skyrim. We’ve basically known about this since the Switch reveal a while ago, but now we finally got some more details about the port. First off, the game will feature three official add-ons: Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn. Second, The Switch port of Skyrim will make full use of the motion controls in things such as combat and lockpicking.
However, probably the main draw of the port will be the Amiibo support. The reveal trailer, which you can check out below, showed off a Link Amiibo. Scanning it into Skyrim spawned a treasure chest, with the Master Sword, Hylian Shield and an outfit that allows your character to look like Link. Whether or not Switch owners will be able to use other Amiibos as well remains to be seen.
Here’s Bethesda’s description of the Skyrim Switch port.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for the Nintendo Switch includes all-new gameplay features like motion controls for combat and lockpicking, outfits and gear from The Legend of Zelda. Take down enemies with the Master Sword, protect yourself with the Hylian Shield or look heroic in the Champion’s Tunic. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for the Nintendo Switch also includes all official add-ons: Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn. Plus tap other compatible amiibo to gain additional loot including those from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild series, 30th Anniversary – The Legend of Zelda series, Super Smash Bros. series, and The Legend of Zelda series.
It seems that Skyrim will be a pretty worthy addition to the Switch library. Yes, the console does still need more games made for the console and a little less ports. But, being able to play Skyrim with all the extra features will certainly be a ton of fun for Switch owners.
