Red Dead Redemption 2 Release Date Moved to October 2018

Rockstar Games have moved the launch date of Red Dead Redemption 2. The new release date is October 26th, 2018. This is the second time that the game has been moved dramatically. Originally, they wanted to release it last year, then moved it to Q1/Q2 of 2018. The reason for the delay is more time needed for polishing the game. Hopefully, there will be no further delays.

Here’s the thing. Rockstar games getting delayed several times is just a fact of life. And, let’s face it, as disappointing as it can get, it’s probably for the better. As I’ve said time and again, I will always take delays above having a product rushed out the door. See Mass Effect Andromeda and many other examples for reasons why. That being said, let’s go over the story at hand.

In a recent blog post, Rockstar Games has announced the new release date for Red Dead Redemption 2. Originally slated for 2017, the game was supposed to launch this spring or summer. Unfortunately, that’s no longer the case. According to the post, the game’s launch date is now October 26th, 2018. All of you that are itching to play Red Dead Redemption 2 are just gonna have to arm yourself with patience and tough through. And hope that there are no further delays.

The post reads: “We apologize to everyone disappointed by this delay. While we had hoped to have the game out sooner, we require a little extra time for polish. We sincerely thank you for your patience and hope that when you get to play the game, you will agree the wait will have been worth it.” Of course, fans are already joking that October 2018 actually means April 2019. And, yes, that may well happen. Hopefully, that won’t be the case. But, again, even if it does happen, better that then a huge mess that they have to fix post-launch.
