Can I Upgrade Red Dead Redemption 2 to Ultimate Edition?

The answer to the question, unfortunately, is no. If you’ve purchased any edition that’s below Ultimate, or even preordered it, there’s no way we know of that you can now upgrade to the highest Edition. In fact, there doesn’t seem to be any upwards mobility from any edition to any edition whatsoever. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. You’re just gonna have to be patient to access the Red Dead Online Beta. Or just purchase the Ultimate Edition, leaving you with two copies of the game.

Well, to be fair, there is one way. You could ask for a refund, and then re-purchase the Ultimate Edition. Of course, this isn’t an upgrade; it’s barely a workaround, but that’s pretty much the only method. That is, unless you want two copies of the game, which is admittedly pretty costly. The downside to this is that processing your refund request can take a good long while. I’d wager that, by the time it goes through (and if it goes through), it’ll be your turn to access the Beta anyway. So, really, there’s no reason to bother with the whole rigmarole at all.

Again, I’m sorry to disappoint you. But, don’t be down, you won’t have to wait for too long. Wondering why Rockstar would not allow folks to upgrade to a better version. It would only mean more money for them, and a pleased player base.

So let’s say you purchase the ultimate edition while already owning the standard. Could you still ask for a refund on the standard edition afterwards? Mostly asking for the perks.

I was wondering- I have the regular edition of rdr2. What happens if I purchase the ultimate edition? I already play RDR Online BETA. If I get the Ultimate Edition will I gain the Ultimate edition items?

Yeah, I’ve been trying to figure this out. I’m stuck right now, because I have RDR2 Standard on Steam, and I’d like to buy the Ultimate Edition, but it won’t let me. Says I already own the game, so I can’t buy it. My friend is going to try refunding it, since he gifted it to me, and then I’ll try upgrading to the Ultimate Edition. Technically, it should still save if I link my R* or since i’m logging in through the same Steam account, it should work. What did you guys find was the easier option? Did you have to refund or delete the game, or did you not even bother upgrading?
