Honor is an atribute in Red Dead Redemption 2. It’s the game’s way of measuring how good of a boy you were during your playthrough. It’s not only cosmetic, though – having a high enough honor score will give you better prices in stores, for instance. Some players want to increase their honor level as high as possible, but cannot do that by just choosing the appropriate answers in main missions. If you want to max out your honor, you’ll have to do a bunch of stuff on the side. In this guide, we’re going to show you how to gain honor in Red Dead Redemption 2.

How to increase honor in RDR2?

The most obvious thing is picking honorable choices in missions. This means sparing anyone you get the chance to kill – like the Blackwater man, the train guards or the O’Driscoll in the barn. The physical rewards are meager if any in all of these instances, so it pays off to play the saintly robber.

Most of the other ways involve your camp in one way or another. Whenever you donate money to the camp’s tithing box, you’ll get a small bump in honor. Doing chores around the camp also helps – things like chopping wood.

While you’re in town, you can say hi to random folks on the street for a small increase. You can also kill rats for the same effect. When you’re fishing, release anything you catch and you’ll often be rewarded with honor.

How you resolve conflicts also plays into this. When you pay your bounty, you’ll get an increase. When you surrender to the police and go to jail, you’ll also be rewarded. If you manage to disarm your dueling opponent, you’ll get a hefty bump. All in all, be a good, upstanding criminal whenever you can.
