Red Dead Redemption 2 is certainly going to offer a lot of adventure and exploration, across many different locations. Rockstar have released some screenshots of certain locations on their website, (some of which you can see above), along with brief descriptions. So, let’s go over some of the locations that we’ll be able to explore in RDR 2; “from the forests of West Elizabeth to the mountains of Ambarino to the plains of New Hanover to the swamps of Lemoyne.”

First off, we have Valentine, in The Heartlands, NH. It’s your classic spaghetti Western setting; a town that revolves around livestock and attracts all sorts, from cowboys and ranchers, to gamblers and outlaws. Then, we have Annesburg, in Roanoke Ridge; a coal-mining town, with all the trapping of such a place. Miners live a hard life, pay is low, and dying in the mine is a fact of life. Next up, there’s Saint Denis, “a key gateway into North America with a trade route that runs the length of the country.” It’s a melting pot of all kinds of characters, from businessmen to panhandlers. It’s civilization, sure, but does that make it any less brutal than the frontier?

If snow-covered peaks are more your thing, there’s Mount Hagen, in the Grizzlies of Ambarino. It’s on the main pass through the mountain range, but be careful not to Donner-party yourself. Then, we have the town of Rhodes, a town in the grips of a war between to plantation families, the Grays and the Braithwaites. The small logging town of Strawberry sounds like an interesting place. Apparently, their eccentric mayor wants to turn the sleepy town into a “cultural beacon for wealthy tourists.” The last location Rockstar is showing off is Lagras, a small fishing settlement in the swamp of Bayou Nwa, Lemoyne. You will probably need a local guide to navigate the treacherous landscape.

If you end up getting stuck at another point, you might want to check out some of the other guides we have. We've written about mysteries like the missing person Gavin, the Rhodes Gunsmith prisoner, the locked door at Valentine doctor. We also have instructional guides that show how to rob stores without getting bounty or where to sell jewelry and gold bars. If it's collectibles or key items you're after, we've found all the Penny Dreadful comic books, Chick's treasure map location, or that famous pipe for Dutch. Finally, if you don't care to explore the map yourself, you could take a look at our Watson's Cabin and Catfish Jackson's Homestead locations guides. In the latest Red Dead Online Moonshiners Update you'll have a chance to find Navy Revolver and Best Shack Locations.
