All platforms will be getting preload, so if you preorder, you’ll be able to download early and be ready to play as soon as it’s released. They’ve also talked about the minimum and recommended system requirements for the PC version, so you can see if your rig will be able to run it well.

Prey Pre-load Times

If you preorder the game, you can download it early and have it ready for launch day. Preloads will start at different times on different platforms:

  • Playstation 4:
    • Europe: April 29th, midnight by territory
    • US: April 28th, midnight EST
  • Xbox One: April 27th, midnight EST
  • PC: May 3rd

Prey Exact Unlock Times

Like with the preloads, the launch times are different across platforms and regions. Because of reasons. Here’s when you can expect to start playing:

  • Playstation 4: May 5th, midnight by territory
  • Xbox One: May 5th, midnight by territory
  • PC: May 4th, 9PM PDT/ May 5th, midnight EDT

Prey PC System Requirements

If you’re interested in playing Prey on a PC, you’ll be happy to know the system requirements. Of course, seeing how things went with Dishonored 2 on PC, we highly recommend you wait for the reviews instead of preordering.

Minimum
  • CPU: Intel i5-2400, AMD FX-8320
  • GPU: GTX 660 2GB, AMD Radeon 7850 2GB
  • Memory: 8 GB
Recommended
  • CPU: Intel i7-2600K, AMD FX-8350
  • GPU: GTX 970 4GB, AMD R9 290 4GB
  • Memory: 16 GB

The game doesn’t seem to demanding, judging from these specs. The minimum is a pretty standard thing, while the recommended seems to be built using the most popular high-end components. That doesn’t mean it won’t be buggy, so beware. Keep in mind you’ll also need around 40GB of hard drive space to install the game.
