Zacian & Zamazenta - Legendary Pokemon Sword & Shield
Zacian & Zamazenta are legendary pokemon in Pokemon Sword & Shield. They’re the wolves from the box covers – one with a shield, the other with a sword. They’re both extremely rare, but thankfully, the game will give you the opportunity to catch them if you follow the story. If you’re wondering when exactly that happens, keep reading our Pokemon Sword & Shield Zacian & Zamazenta locations guide.
How to get Zacian & Zamazenta?
Keep in mind you’ll only be able to get one of them – Zacian is exclusive to the Sword version, while Zamazenta is only available in the Shield version of the game. The only way to get the one from the other version is by trading. That being said, they’re really easy to obtain, even though you’ll have to wait a fair bit.
You’ll get the chance to capture Zacian or Zamazenta during a post-game story quest. Make sure you save your game manually before you climb to the top of Hammerlocke Stadium after talking to Shielbert and Sordward. Once you’re at the top, you’ll have to fight the legendary pokemon. When you’ve whittled its health down, you’ll have the chance to catch it. Use a high quality poke ball to increase your chances to getting it. A Master Ball works best, but if you don’t have one, any of the ones that have higher capture rates will do just fine.
The fight itself isn’t particularly difficult, so even if you don’t manage to catch Zacian or Zamazenta, you can always reload the manual save you made and try again. As far as we know, neither of them can evolve, but both have a second form that can be activated by giving them specific items. Zacian requires a Rusted Sword, while Zamazenta needs a Rusted Shield. You’ll get this items during the main story, so there’s no extra work required there.
