Pokemon Sword & Shield Eevee Evolution - Espeon, Umbreon, Vaporeon
Eevee in Pokemon Sword & Shield is a classic Pokemon that you can catch and evolve in the game. The Pokemon Sword & Shield Eevee has eight evolutions: Espeon, Sylveon, Umbreon, Jolteon, Flaeron, Vaporeon, Leafon and Glaceon. Every Eeveelution has a trick of its own, whether it requires a specific evolution stone, a certain time of day and Friendship Level, and more. With that in mind, we’re going to show you how to evolve Eevee in Pokemon Sword & Shield, as well as how to get one, and more.
How Does Eevee Evolution Work in Pokemon Sword & Shield?
To evolve Eevee in Pokemon Sword & Shield into one of its eight forms, there are several things you need to do, depending on which Eeveelution you want to get. For most, it is as simple as giving Eevee an evolution stone. Others, however, will require you to raise the Eevee’s Friendship Level while paying attention to the time of day. Here’s what you need to do for each Eeveelution:
- Vaporeon – Give Eevee a Water Stone
- Flareon – Give Eevee a Fire Stone
- Jolteon – Give Eevee a Thunder Stone
- Glaceon – Give Eevee an Ice Stone
- Leafeon – Give Eevee a Leaf Stone
- Espeon – Level Eevee up at Friendship Level 220 during the day
- Umbreon – Level Eevee up at Friendship Level 220 during the night
- Sylveon – Level Eevee up at Friendship Level 160 after teaching it a Fairy Move
Side note: if you’re not too keen on evolving Eevee, you can try and hunt the Eeveelutions in the Lake of Outrage. That’s the Wild Area west-by-southwest of Hammerlocke. True, they’re a fairly rare spawn, but so is regular Eevee. It’s worth a shot.
How to Get Eevee?
To get Eevee in Pokemon Sword & Shield, you’re gonna have to hunt for it on Route 4. That is, unless you’ve played Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee and picked it up from there. For more info on that, check out our Pokemon Sword & Shield Eevee and Pikachu Locations guide. If not, well, you should sacrifice someone near and dear to you to the gods on RNG, because Eevee is an extremely rare spawn. In fact, the rates are around 5% in Shield, and a truly annoying 1% in Sword. Still, we managed to catch a wild Eevee in Sword, so I firmly believe you can do it, too. Eventually. After a lot of legwork. Good luck.
Hilariously enough, I found an Eevee within five minutes if learning where I could catch it.
