How to Change Tera Type in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
Each individual Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet has its starting Tera Type. There are 18 different Tera types and numerous combinations of Pokemon and Tera Types. That’s because a specific Pokemon can come with any of the Tera Types randomly attached to it. However, the good news is that you will not be stuck with that Type if that’s not something you need. Likewise, you will not need to aimlessly hunt for a specific Tera Type of Pokemon that you want/need. Rather you will simply be able to change a Pokemon’s Tera Type to the one that suits you.
So, how to change Tera Type in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet? Well, you will need to use Tera Shards for this. There are 18 different Tera Shards in the Paldea region, with one type of shard for each Tera Type. And you guessed it, you will need a specific type of shards depending on to which Tera Type you want to switch. For example, if you want your Normal Tera Type Pokemon to become a Flying Tera Type, you’ll need 50 Flying Tera Shards. Various Tera Shards can be found scattered around the world. They will also drop as rewards from Tera Raids. And, as far as we’re aware, there’s only one place where you can use Tera Shards to change Tera Type. This can be done at the Treasure Eatery Medali.
