Change Pokemon Ability in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
Abilities are the most powerful tools in a Pokemon’s arsenal. These Abilities determine how efficient they are in battle, and picking the right ability to use at the right time is, as every good Trainer knows, the key to victory. When you catch them, most Pokemon have one of two standard abilities. If you want that Pokemon to have the other standard ability, you would normally have to go through the process of catching it again until you found the one with the second standard ability. But is there a way to somehow change your Pokemon Ability in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet? Thankfully, there is, and we are going to explain everything that you need to do right here.
How to Change Pokemon Abilities in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
In order to change your Pokemon’s Standard Ability in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you first need to obtain the Ability Capsule. You can purchase this item in Chansey Supply shops for 100.000 Pokedollars. Note, however, that it is only available this way after you have finished the main game. The other way to get it is through 5-star raids, which can require a bit of grinding. Either way – since this is a very powerful item with an amazing effect, you won’t be able to get it right from the start of the game.
Now, let’s see how it actually functions. Once you get an Ability Capsule, give it to your Pokemon to use. This will, of course, consume the Ability Capsule in question. After this, you will then get the option to change your Pokemon’s standard ability to the other one, swapping the one they have with the one they didn’t. One last thing that you need to be aware of is that this Ability Capsule is only usable on Pokemon that come with two standard abilities. If it is a Pokemon that only has one (such as Pikachu, which has just Static), then this item can’t be used on them.
