Disappointingly, the event will apparently not feature Pokemon breeding, like many have been speculating.

Pokemon GO Valentine’s Day Event Details & Bonuses

The Valentine’s day event in Pokemon GO is starting much sooner than we thought. Starting at 11:00 A.M. PST on February 8th, you’ll be able to make use of the various bonuses on offer. The event will last until 11:00 A.M. PST on February 15th. That’s a week’s worth of increased Candies and select spawns. You can see the exact list of event bonuses below.

  • Double amount of candy every time you catch, hatch and transfer a Pokemon
  • Your Buddy Pokemon will find candy twice as fast
  • Chansey, Clefable and other “adorable pink Pokemon” will spawn more frequently
  • Higher likelihood of hatching Cleffa, Igglybuff, and Smoochum
  • During the event, Lure modules will last for six hours

Now, a lot of us have been speculating about this event. Pretty much everybody was expecting that Niantic will use this opportunity to reveal Pokemon genders and breeding in the game. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case. Quite frankly, what we got instead is kinda underwhelming.

I mean, there is no amount of “adorable pink Pokemon” that will make me go out into this weather. If you’re in a warmer climate, then fine, it makes sense. But it’s the dead of the winter in a large section of the globe right now. No matter what Niantic says, you absolutely will not “grab your valentine, get out, and explore the world around you” in almost-subzero temperatures. In fact, that is the exact opposite of what most of us are going to do, I’m sure.

Still, if these bonuses are enough to make you leave the warmth of you house, then by all means, enjoy the event.
