Shiny Mew Notification in Pokemon GO

The Shiny Mew notification you got in Pokemon GO is basically just a reminder that you can purchase the five-dollar All in One 151 Masterwork Research. This is a set of extra quests that you can complete, and as a reward, you’ll get an encounter with a shiny Mew. Whether it’s guaranteed to be shiny or not is not exactly super-clear, but it is worth the attempt alone. You can read more about all the steps involved in the research in our Masterwork Research 151 Tasks & Rewards guide. You have until 8 PM local time on Wednesday, July 12th, 2023 to make the purchase. According to the 7th Anniversary Party event announcement, you will have all the time in the world to actually complete the research. You just have to buy it in time.

And, so, yeah, that’s why you got the Shiny Mew notification in Pokemon GO. I’m sure many of you perked up as soon as you saw it, hoping that Niantic have granted you the chance to actually obtain the special version of Mew. And, well, technically they have. They just want you to pay and then grind for it. And I do mean grind; the tasks you have to accomplish are really brutal, including catching thirty Pokemon of each type and earning the platinum Kanto medal. Which, you know, you won’t be able to achieve if you don’t already have a Mew already. All I can do is wish you the best of luck.
