Pokemon GO Research Breakthrough August 2022

The August 2022 Pokemon GO Research Breakthrough reward is going to be an encounter with Galarian Stunfisk. From August 1st to September 1st, whenever you get enough stamps from daily Research Tasks, you’ll encounter this gross-looking Pokemon. The difference between the Galarian and regular Stunfisk is very obvious; there’s no way you’re going to confuse the two. The former looks like a diseased bear trap or something. I know it sounds ridiculous, but when you meet one, you’ll immediately understand what I mean. Incidentally, the Galarian Stunfisk also has a shiny variant. The difference is in the color of the “spots” on the top: if it’s shiny, those marks are going to be yellow instead of green. Again, super-easy to notice.

So, yeah, that’s what your Pokemon GO Research Breakthrough reward in August 2022 is going to be. Now, let’s talk a bit more about the Galarian Stunfisk, just so you know what to expect. It’s a Ground/Steel type. It is weak against Water, Fire, Fighting and Ground attacks (160% damage), but takes less damage from Fairy, Dragon, Normal, Steel, Psychic, Flying and Bug attacks (63% damage), Rock and Electric attacks (39% damage), and especially Poison attacks (a pitiful 24% damage). As for its moveset, it can have Mud Shot (Ground) and Metal Claw (Steel) as Quick Attacks and Earthquake (Ground), Flash Cannon (Steel), Muddy Water (Water) and Rock Slide (Rock) as Charged Attacks. The combo of Metal Claw and Earthquake is probably the best one, but feel free to go with whatever works for you.
