Pokemon GO Pidove Spotlight Hour

The Pidove Spotlight Hour in Pokemon GO is going to take place on Tuesday, August 30th from 6 PM to 7 PM local server time. That is always the case with these events, but hey, you never know which Spotlight Hour might be somebody’s first. During the hour, Pidove is going to be spawning more, including the shiny variant (more on that below). That is pretty much the most underwhelming Pokemon they possibly could have picked to round the month of. I have no idea why Pidove, of all creatures, was the way they felt they needed to go. Anyways, the event bonus is double Evolution XP, meaning you’ll get twice the experience when you evolve a Pokemon. Any Pokemon will work, not just Pidove.

Can Pidove Be Shiny?

Yes, Pidove can absolutely be shiny in Pokemon GO, so if you really want one (or more), the Spotlight Hour is the time to go hunting. The serious catch here is that the shiny and regular Pidove look almost completely identical. The only real difference is that the beak and feet of the shiny version are a darker orange than the normal variant’s. So, you are really going to have to keep your eyes peeled, or just go all out and catch every single Pidove you come across during the event. Or just leave this one alone, because Pidove and its evolutions are ultimately completely useless, even if Unfezant does look really cool. Sure, the double Evolution XP is nice, but other than that, the event is entirely skippable.
