How to Beat Giovanni in Pokemon GO July 2023

Every battle against Giovanni is divided into three phases. In the first phase, he will always use his signature Pokemon – Shadow Persian. In the second round, he will bring out either Shadow Nidoking, Shadow Rhyperior, or Shadow Garchomp. And, in the third and final phase, he is going to use Shadow Regirock. In the next section of this guide, we are going to list out the best counters against all of the Pokemon that Giovanni uses.

Let’s start with Shadow Persian:

• Tyranitar: Smack Down and Crunch.
• Terrakion: Smack Down and Rock Slide.
• Lucario: Counter and Aura Sphere.
• Machamp: Counter and Dynamic Punch.

In the second round of the fight, you will face off against either Shadow Nidoking, Shadow Rhyperior, or Shadow Garchomp. Let’s see Shadow Rhyperior counters first:

• Swampert: Mud Shot and Hydro Cannon.
• Kyogre: Waterfall and Surf.
• Mamoswine: Powder Snow and Avalanche.
• Gyarados: Dragon Breath and Aqua Tail.

Next, Shadow Nidoking:

• Mamoswine: Powder Snow and Avalanche.
• Kyogre: Waterfall and Surf.
• Garchomp: Mud Shot and Earth Power.
• Swampert: Mud Shot and Hydro Cannon.

And lastly – Shadow Garchomp:

In the third and final phase of the fight, you are always going to have to fight Shadow Regirock. Here are the best counters to use against it:

• Swampert: Mud Shot and Hydro Cannon.
• Lucario: Counter and Power-Up Punch.
• Torterra: Razor Leaf and Frenzy Plant.
