Pokemon Go Holiday Event Starts, Brings New Items, Bonuses, & More
This year’s Pokemon Go winter holiday event is in full swing. While it lasts, trainers will be able to catch several new Gen-Three Pokemon and Pikachu with a Santa hat, get Incubators by spinning photo discs, purchase special holiday boxes with the new Star Piece item, and more.
It’s now officially the holiday season in Pokemon Go. Trainers that choose to brave the cold will have several interesting things to look forward to. The leak on the Taiwanese Google Play store that we’ve covered yesterday pretty much hit the nail on the head, but there are a few other things that weren’t mentioned. So, let’s go over what this year’s Pokemon Go holiday event brings to the table.
For one, Pikachu with the Santa Hat is now back in the game, in case you haven’t gotten it yet. Ice-Type Pokemon will be appearing more, and several new Water-Type and Ice-Type Third-Gen Pokemon will be making their debut. Additionally, every first PokeStop you spin from December 22nd to December 25th will give you a single-use Incubator. Then, of course, we have the introduction of a brand new item: Star Pieces. Once activated, they’ll earn you bonus Stardust, and they last 30 minutes.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a holiday event in Pokemon Go if it didn’t have boxes of items that you can buy in the store. They’ll be in stock from December 21st to December 25th, at 1 PM PST. So, let’s see what’s in them and how much they cost. First off, the Winter Box. It costs 480 PokeCoins, and contains 2 Incense, 2 Incubators, and 5 Star Pieces. The Great Box costs 780 Coins, and you’ll find 4 Super Incubators, 10 Razz Berries, and 10 Star Pieces. Lastly, there’s the Ultra Box, with 8 Super Incubators, 10 Pinap Berries, 25 Star Pieces, and 10 Lure Modules. From December 25th to January 4th, there’ll be other special boxes, containing Premium Raid Passes, Star Pieces, and Super Incubators. Get your gear, dress warmly, and good luck out there!
