How to Catch Hoopa in Pokemon Go

To get Hoopa in Pokemon Go, the first step is to wait for it to appear in the game. As we’ve explained in our Hoopa Release Date & Time guide, the new monster won’t be in the game until Sunday, September 10th, at 10AM local time. This info comes straight from the official Niantic blog post. Next, make sure that you have completed the first step of the Season of Mischief research tasks. I’ll explain why that is necessary in just a bit; first, I want to say that, if you’re having trouble with this, you can check out our Misunderstood Mischief guide.

I said that you should complete the first part of the research missions beforehand because the second set of tasks unlocks on September 5th, the same date as Hoopa. Completing these tasks should unlock access to an encounter with Confined Hoopa. At that point, I assume you’ll have the chance to actually get Hoopa in Pokemon Go. For that, I think it’s probably smart to stock up on Berries and Poke Balls to ensure that you get a catch.

Of course, part of this is just guesswork on my part. We’ll have to wait and see how it actually plays out. Maybe there’ll be more stuff you’ll have to do before you can catch a Hoopa; we just don’t know at this point. However, I sincerely doubt it’s going to be overly complicated.
