Pokemon GO Christmas &New Year's Holiday Event Part Two
The second part of the Pokemon GO Winter Holiday Event starts on the afternoon of December 30th (PST). It will end on the afternoon of January 8th (PST), so we can call this leg the New Year’s half. During the New Year’s event in Pokemon GO, starter Pokemon and their respective evolutions will spawn more often. Additionally, Lure Modules will last a full hour instead of 30 minutes.
And let’s not forget the presents. From December 30th to January 3rd, we’ll be able to buy Bronze, Silver, and Gold Boxes. They will have the same function as the previous gift boxes, basically allowing us to buy bulk items on discount.
New Year Celebration in Pokemon GO
The Pokemon Go Christmas Event is still not technically over. The only thing we don’t have anymore are the gift boxes. However, it’s time for part 2 to begin.
Here’s an excerpt from Niantic’s announcement:
“…from the afternoon of December 30, 2016, through the afternoon of January 8, 2017 (PST), the first partner Pokémon and their Evolutions, originally discovered in the Kanto region, are more likely to be encountered. This means a greater chance to catch Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, and Venusaur, as well as Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charizard, plus Squirtle, Wartortle, and Blastoise! As a way to increase your chance to encounter one of these Pokémon, Lure Modules will also last for 60 minutes instead of 30 minutes.”
So, if you’re lacking starter Pokemon and their Evolutions, this event will be right up your alley. I know it certainly works well for me, since I’ve got squat in terms of starters.
The other important part of this shebang are the new gift boxes. They’re divided in Bronze, Silver, and Gold Boxes. According to another announcement by Niantic, they’ll contain “Incense, Lure Modules, Lucky Eggs, Poké Balls, and Great Balls.” In all honesty, doesn’t sound as good as the previous Boxes, but oh well. We don’t know exactly what each box will contain yet, but we’ll keep you posted.
