Pokemon GO Celebi Special Research Quests Coming Next Week
Celebi, the time-traveling mythical Pokemon from the Johto region, will be going live in Pokemon GO on Monday of next week. It will be waiting for you at the end of a Special Research quest chain, given to you by Professor Willow. Even if you’ve already caught a Celebi in Chicago, you can still participate to earn Candy.
Celebi made its debut in Pokemon GO back during the Chicago Go Fest event a while back. Now, however, all Pokemon trainers will get a shot at capturing the mythical, time-traveling Pokemon. It will be hiding behind a Special Research quest, given to you by Professor Willow. Said quest chain is going to go live worldwide on August 20th, aka this Monday. And, if you’ve completed the quest during the festival in Chicago, you’ll still be able to participate in this Special Research. If you do, you’ll get “a new bounty of Candy to power up your Celebi,” according to the announcement on the Pokemon GO website.
Either way, while on your journey, you’re gonna “complete tasks to gain XP, receive useful items, and even encounter certain Pokémon on your journey.” However, it’s important to know that you’ll have to complete “the third group of tasks related to the Special Research on Mew” before starting with the Celebi quests. That being said, you can finish both quest chains at your own pace; there doesn’t seem to be any time limit on the Celebi quests.
According to the announcement, “the presence of Celebi has also drawn out the appearance of more Pokémon originally discovered in the Johto region.” On top of that, “field Research relating to Pokémon discovered in the Johto region will be available throughout this special time.” Also, a Celebi T-shirt will be available for free in the Style Shop. You can also pick up Pokemon HeartGold and Pokemon SoulSilver Trainer avatar items there, which feature outfits that unlock depending on your Johto medal progress.
