PlayStation VR on Discount on Amazon & GameStop

The PSVR is getting a price cut at major retailers, in a manner of speaking. You can now pick up a PSVR set at Amazon and GameStop for $400, and you’ll get the PlayStation Eye camera for free. The camera is necessary for the VR to work, and it’s sold separately. This way, it’s sorta bundled with the PlayStation VR set.

PlayStation VR on Discount on Amazon & GameStop

The PlayStation VR has already sold almost one million units, according to Sony’s official reports. It has completely dwarfed the sales of the PC competition, the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. It boasts compatibility some pretty great games, such as Resident Evil 7. There’s also rumors that the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront II will also have PSVR compatibility. If you want to jump on the bandwagon, now’s a good moment.

Currently, there’s a pretty good deal on the PSVR on GameStop and Amazon. Both retailers are offering the set for $400. More importantly, however, you can get the PlayStation Eye camera free. The PSVR can’t work without the peripheral, but you have to get them separately. This is a good opportunity to get it all in a bundle and keep about $60 in your pocket in the process. There’s no information yet as to what Sony has to say about this price cut, or if they’re actually behind it. We also don’t know if any more retailers are going to join in on the action.

Hopefully for Sony, this offer will bring in some more players that are on the fence. After all, the PlayStation 4 has sold 60 million units; there’s bound to be more people interested. However, there’s no doubt that some (if not most) customers will still hang back and wait to see where this whole VR thing is going.

The discount aside, the PSVR is still a significant investment. In the end, it’s up to you to decide if the experience is worth your money.
