New trailer for Nier: Automata
Nier: Automata release dates confirmed
Nier: Automata will be released on PlayStation 4 and PC. In Japan, the PS4 version will launch on Febraury 23rd. North America will have to wait until March 7th, while Europe and Australia will get it on March 10th. The release date for the PC version remains unknown.
The main protagonist of Nier: Automata is YoRHa No. 2B, a female android, whose main personality traits are being calm and composed, but players will control multiple characters through this open world environment. They will be unlocked with each new playthrough. The story route is set in a forsaken wasteland, devastated by the war between the machines and the androids.
The game tells a story about invaders from another world that attacked the human race without a warning. They unleashed weapons known as “machine lifeforms” and forced mankind away from Earth. Humans made it to the Moon and proclaimed it their new home. They formed a base and made a Council of Humanity that is in charge of taking back the Earth from the aliens. The Council of Humanity organizes a resistance of android soldiers called YoRHa and sends them to Earth to try and take our planet back.
Square Enix also made a small tribute to Final Fantasy XV, as YoRHa No.2 Type B will be able to wield Noctis’ Engine Blade weapon. The gameplay itself is generally focused on melee weapons, but shooting elements are also planned.
