The Rogue Prince of Persia Gets New Release Date

Originally, The Rogue Prince of Persia was supposed to come out on May 14th. And then Hades 2 happened and took the majority of the oxygen right out of the room. So, the developers wisely decided to delay their own roguelite for a while, just to let people savor Hades 2 before presenting their own offering. Now we know what the new launch date is going to be: May 27th, 2024.

The Rogue Prince of Persia Launch Date Revealed

The new release date has been confirmed both in the new trailer, which you can check out below, and on Twitter. The developers, Evil Empire, tweeted: “The Rogue Prince of Persia’s new release date is 27th May! If you didn’t see our previous post, the TLDR is to give people time to play Hades 2, including us”, adding: “But if Silksong shadow-drops in the next two weeks we’re burning the whole thing down!” And, yeah, if Team Cherry do drop Silksong out of the blue in the coming days, I’d tear my hair out, too. For the sake of Evil Empire’s mental health, I hope it doesn’t happen.

The tweet goes on to clarify the game’s price. Apparently, a lot of people thought it would cost sixty, or maybe seventy dollars. But that’s just not the case; The Rogue Prince of Persia is a smaller-scale title, and will be priced accordingly. It will cost twenty dollars, although the developers promise a “cheeky little launch discount.” So, yeah, quite affordable. Do keep in mind that the game will spend some time in early access, meaning that it might be a little rough around the edges at the outset. Personally, I’m stoked to play Rogue Prince for the music and visuals alone. I hope the gameplay complements the amazing presentation!
