Swords of Legends Online Western Release Date Coming Soon
Publisher Gameforge has partnered with developers Wangyuan Shengtang and Aurogon to present the Chinese MMORPG Swords of Legends Online to a Western audience in the summer of 2021, according to the Steam listing. The port promises to be a “a fully remastered and improved version” of the game, and it’s coming to Europe, North America, and Latin America. At the moment, there’s no talk of a console version; you’ll only be able to get it on PC via the Gameforge launcher, Steam, or Epic Games Store.
Swords of Legends Online is an MMORPG based on Chinese legends. Your character is one of those “chosen by the spirit of the legendary sword” that will plunge deep into the conflict between light and darkness to save the world; you know the drill, it’s the basic plot of basically every MMORPG. You can play as one of six classes (with two roles each): Reaper, Summoner, Bard, Spellsword, Berserker, and Spearmaster. The game will offer fast-paced combat, story-driven gameplay, PvP battles, dungeons, and more. Oh, and flying mounts and an “extensive housing system.”
So, if you’re looking for another extensive RPG that is steeped in Chinese culture, and you grow tired of Genshin Impact, then Swords of Legends Online might help scratch that itch. Maybe Genshin’s cartoony aesthetic isn’t quite your speed. Maybe the gacha gambling system of monetization is too much. Either way, maybe you’ll want to give this game a chance this summer.
While there’s no exact release date for Swords of Legends Online, the Steam page does let you preorder it already. Not only that, but there are three versions of the game you can get. The base one costs $40, Deluxe costs $60, and the Collector’s Edition $100. The higher-tier versions give you extra cosmetic items and mounts to show off. Preordering also gets you exclusive cosmetics, as well as a housing bundle for your character’s abode.
