So, what fun stuff can we extract from the first dev diary of Starpoint Gemini 3? Well, according to the post, the devs are widening the scope of the game. By that I mean, they’re working to expand the universe. By that I mean, as the diary puts it: “players will be able to interact with other NPCs and get face to face with the aliens who were ever present in the previous installments, but never seen before.” That is the first for the series. So, yeah; that should definitely help immersion.

The second thing that’s interesting to note is that they’ve gotten Croatian writer Darko Macan as the scriptwriter. He’s a seasoned man, well-versed in science fiction and fantasy. He’s got some interesting stuff under his belt, including several Star Wars comics from Dark Horse Comics, a stint in Marvel Comics writing Cable: The End and several issues of Soldier X, and even a few issues of Hellblazer. I’m very curious to see what Mr Macan comes up with; especially considering the increased scope of the game will include a lot more dialogue.

Starpoint Gemini 3 doesn’t have a set launch date, which makes sense, considering that it’s still in the production cycle. If you want to keep up with what’s going on, check out the Starpoint Gemini 3 Steam page. Fans of sci-fi “open-world space action single-player RPGs,” as the game describes itself, might want to keep an eye out for this one.
