S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl Release Delayed to November 20th, 2024

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. was a revolutionary survival FPS back in the day and it left fond memories of exploring the zone of Chernobyl inspired by the Strugatsky brothers novel Roadside Picnic. Lots of fans have been eagerly awaiting a proper sequel and the wait has been made just a bit longer. GSC Game World announced to day that they are moving the release date to November 20th, 2024 from originally planned September 5th date. This is not a huge delay and will ensure that the game we get is going to be in a better state and I’m all for that. Looking at all the material released so far the game is going to be stunning looking. Developers are promising 60 square miles of open world for you to explore. Lots of it was scanned on location in Chernobyl, which promises to add an extra layer of authenticity to the game.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl New Gameplay Footage

To help you get over the wait developers will be holding a special update on the game. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Developer Deep Dive will happen during an Xbox collaboration event on 12th August, 2024. There’ll be interviews and deep dives into the dev process. We’ll also see a full mission gameplay along with cutscenes, world overview and more. That’s a lot of in-game footage for fans to sift through. In any case, we wish GSC Game World the best of luck in finishing development and that this delay will mean we’ll release the best game they can make.

Yevhen Grygorovych, Game Director at GSC Game World, had this to say:

We know you might be tired of waiting, and we truly appreciate your patience. These two additional months will give us the chance to fix more “unexpected anomalies” (or simply “bugs”, as you call them). We are always grateful for your ongoing support and understanding – it means the world to us. We’re just as eager as you are to finally release the game and for you to experience it for yourself.
