Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 teething troubles continue – and a free season pass?
CI Games, the Polish developer behind Sniper Ghost Warrior series might have bitten off more than they can chew. They have been trying to move into AAA area with their latest game, but it would appear that they have a lot more to learn to get there.
The game was released yesterday. Immediately, there was something off – the multiplayer is not shipping at the same time, and it will arrive at a later point. While some people like their sniping done in peace, others might have wanted, or pre-ordered their game only for this reason. The team was candid enough to admit that they wanted to focus on the single-player experience for now, to make it worthwhile. Unfortunately, the overall rating on Open Critic sitting at 54 is not really that great.
To make the situation even more confusing, the season pass seems to have been made free. The confusing part is that it was not originally meant to be free, then it became free for pre-orders on PS4 and PC, whereas there was a limited edition for Xbox One as a way to compensate. After Xbox One players made some noise, it was decided that they should get the free season pass too. Are you with us so far? Good. So, the season pass is now free for everone, regardless whether you pre-ordered the game or not.
Season passes have been part and parcel of gaming for a while now, and although they have their critics, they are also supported by a lot of gamers. Be that as it may, CI Games seems a bit out of their element when it comes to the world of AAA gaming.
Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 is out on PS4, Xbox One and PC as of April 26, 2017.
