Sad news for everyone that’s aching to play a new Shenmue, after a nearly two-decade long wait. Shenmue 3 was supposed to release in late August, but it won’t make the date. Shenmue 3 Release Date Delayed to Mid-November

Poor Shenmue 3. It’s been a long road, and just as the ending came into view, it slipped out of their hands. Those of you that have been gearing up to play the new installment of the Shenmue franchise in August, I hate to be the bearer of bad news. Instead of August 27th, the game is coming out on November 19th, according to the Kickstarter page. Yes, it sucks, but let’s be real here. You haven’t had Shenmue since 2001. What’s a few more months, if you’ve waited eighteen years already?

Plus, it’s not like the developers have delayed the launch date just because. They need the extra time to deliver as best a game as they can. As the announcement states: “Whilst almost ready, the game simply needs a little more refinement before being truly finished. We feel that the extra time we have will help us deliver the true Shenmue experience players around the world deserve!” So, yeah. Better hunker down and wait out another couple of months than end up with a sub-standard game after all this waiting. Just, you know… don’t let your expectations run too wild.

And, well, there you go. Shenmue 3 is launching on November 19th, 2019. Barring any other unforeseen delays, of course. Once it does come out, you’ll be able to play it on PC or PlayStation 4. Incidentally, the game is available for pre-orders on the Kickstarter page. Just in case you want to jump onto the bandwagon super-duper early.
