Shadow of the Colossus Towers Over UK Sales Chart

Shadow of the Colossus has topped the UK sales chart this week. The PS4 remake is selling extremely well, it seems. Definitely far above and beyond the original PlayStation 2 version. Other games in the top ten best sellers in the UK include UFC 3, Monster Hunter World, Call of Duty: WW2, and others.

After Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, another remake for the PlayStation 4 has topped the UK sales chart. Shadow of the Colossus is dominating the chart, according to Chart-Track. Not only that, but it has completely obliterated its original sales. Back when it came out, Shadow of the Colossus was a bit of a commercial disappointment. The sales of the remake are already 73% more than the PS2 original. And Chart-Track only takes physical sales into account. That means that the Shadow of the Colossus PS4 remake has probably sold well more than that. And, we’re talking a game that’s a PS4 exclusive moving this many copies. We’ll see if it will keep up with Crash. It certainly deserves to.

As for the other games in the top-ten, EA Sports UFC 3 is still in second place. Monster Hunter World has since fallen to third place. Following are Fifa 18 in fourth place, GTA V in fifth, and Call of Duty: WW2 in sixth. Finally, in the bottom four of the top-ten, we have Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Odyssey, Assassin’s Creed Origins, and, quite unexpectedly, The Evil Within 2.

Personally, I really hope that Shadow of the Colossus selling like hotcakes will send the right message out to developers and publishers. It’s not that we want an onslaught of remakes and remasters. The message is that relatively simple, single-player, story-driven games have a very thirsty audience. We want more of this kind of game.
