Rainbow Six Siege Operation Blood Orchid Announced
Ubisoft have announced the next update for Rainbow Six Siege. It’s called Operation Blood Orchid, and it’s going to freshen up the game with a new map, three new operators and another batch of cosmetic items. It’s going to be released shortly after Gamescom, and a livestream during the convention will reveal more about it.
The map will be set in Hong Kong, but that’s pretty much everything we know about it. It’s even worse when it comes to the new classes – there’s absolutely no info about them except the fact that there’s three of them. Thankfully, Gamescom is just around the corner, and Ubisoft promised a glimpse of the new content during the show. The demonstration will take place the Pro League finals, so it’s probably going to be stuffed between streams of the world’s best players outsiegeing each other, fighting for a piece of the unusually specific prize pool of $237,500.
The finals will, of course, be streamed live on Twitch, and the showcase of Operation Blood Orchid is scheduled for August 26th at 10:15 AM PDT (1:00 PM EDT / 7:00 PM CEST). It’s nice to see how far the game has come, from an ugly duckling that seemed like it won’t amount to anything, to an esport that’s constantly updated with new stuff, has a dedicated audience and even a big, fancy competition. The finals will include eight teams – three from Europe, three from North America and two from Brazil.
The new map from Operation Blood Orchid will be free for all owners of the game, and it will go live on August 29th. That’s also when season pass holders will be able to start playing around with the new classes, while the rest of the players will have to wait until September 5th to get their hands on them.
