Rainbow Six Siege Free Weekend Event Scheduled for February 15-18

If you’ve been watching Rainbow Six Siege from the sidelines, but haven’t been too sure about forking over to buy it, you’re in luck. Ubisoft has announced on the Rainbow Six website that they’ll be hosting a free weekend in Rainbow Six Siege next week. During the event, you’ll have access to the full game completely free. As the post points out, this includes “all of the maps, modes and operators.” The event is scheduled to start on Thursday, February 15th, and end on Sunday, February 18th.

The news of the free weekend in Rainbow Six Siege comes about a week after Ubisoft ended up in hot water over the game. Specifically, they tried to remove the standard version of Rainbow Six Siege. That would have left prospective new players with either a bare-bones version, or the more expensive editions. Fortunately, the fans kicked up a lot of stink, and they decided to keep the standard edition of Rainbow Six Siege. So, this move almost comes across almost as a kind of apology.

However, it’s likely a promo for the upcoming Outbreak event. It starts on March 6th, and it will last until April 3rd. The Outbreak event in Rainbow Six Siege will bring three new co-op levels, trying to contain and destroy a dangerous parasite infection in the town of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. So, use the upcoming free weekend to test the game out, if you want, and prepare for the Outbreak event, if you do end up purchasing it.
