Quake Champions count is up by one more: Galena is an unholy paladin
Bethesda is bringing more champions to the table in their trailer series for Quake Champions. If you have missed it, the legend of Quake Arena will be reborn again, from the hands of id Software and Bethesda. The closed beta, first out from April 6 to April 9, has been received well among the people who still live by the old rules of FPS multiplayer – skill and speed.
So far, Bethesda has shown five champions, with Galena being the sixth. Previous trailers include Clutch, the automaton, Slash, the roller queen, Scalebearer, the galactic warlord, Anarky, the transhuman punk, and Nyx, the fathom agent. So far, the champions have shown that they all have their specialties, and they all seem to fit well with the game’s fast-paced gameplay.
Let us take a look at what Bethesda has to say about their latest champion:
Galena is a healer and a warrior, skilled in both giving and taking life. Raised in the Dreamlands, where she faces off against Champions from across the waking world in twisted Arenas, Galena is a force to be reckoned with. Watch the Unholy Paladin dole out divine punishment in the latest Quake Champions profile trailer.
Galena has a nice Unholy Totem skill, which allows her to leave a cross-bomb, which means you can set up traps for anyone who is following you, blowing them right out of their steps. The other skill, channeling, is a passive one, albeit connected to the totem. Every time Galena picks up a health bubble, she reduces the cooldown of the totem by five percent. Nifty! Bethesda also said that “she’s not the fastest Champion in the Arenas, but she’s resilient, and with her Unholy Totem and Channeling abilities, she’s even harder to frag.”
The closed beta is still going on, so you can try to sign up, but be prepared for a bit of a wait – it is quite popular.
