Nintendo Switch gives PS4 a run for its money in Japan
We have written recently about Breath of the Wild improving the sales of the aging Wii U. This time, there is good news for Nintendo Switch as well. The Japan sales for this versatile console are matching or exceeding that of the PS4!
Of course, evil tongues will say that this is not surprising as the PS4 has been out some years, and has already sold over 50 million units worldwide, however, its sales have been very stable. This is especially valid for Japan, where Xbox One is not really a contender. The latest numbers show 519k Switch sold since its launch three weeks ago. At the same time Sony has sold 439k PS4s. Nintendo even had to order double the numbers of consoles from its suppliers than intended. Kudoz, Nintendo. The handhelds have been their forte for decades now and combining it with the classic console seems to be more than a gimmick for attracting attention. Well, it certainly has attracted attention.
The game that really helped push the sales of Nintendo Switch is definitely The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The open world adventure really hit a note with the players and the critics alike, as it soared up to 97 points on Metacritic. Nintendo released update 1.1.1, which is improving frame rate on Wii U and the Switch. There are plans for future DLC, for the first time in the series. They should be bringing new challenges, dungeons, enemies, weapons, and even a new story is in the plans. Talk about Nintendo moving with the times!
