Nintendo Switch Gets Binding Of Isaac as Launch Title
The launch lineup of the Nintendo Switch is now up to six. The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ is coming to the Switch on March 3rd, the same day the console releases worldwide. The package will include Rebirth, Afterbirth, and Afterbirth+, and the bundle will cost $40, both as a digital download and physical copy.
Publisher Nicalis announced the news on their blog post The Binding of Isaac Megapost 2017. Here’s what they had to say on the subject.
It means that there is more than just The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on launch. Afterbirth+ will be available at retail as well as on the Nintendo eShop for $39.99 and will include Rebirth, Afterbirth and Afterbirth+ packed together as one game.
The game is available for pre-order on Amazon and GameStop. If you’re planning to get the Switch and play The Binding of Isaac on it, you should probably get it pretty much immediately. Here’s why.
You might want to consider pre-ordering, as the first few thousand copies may come backed in with something special.
Nobody know yet what that special something is, but we’ll let you know as soon as we know more.
Afterbirth+ brings the Nintendo Switch launch lineup up to six games. If these seems pretty slim, that’s because it is. In comparison, the Wii u had 23 games at launch, and was similarly criticized for it. Here is the list of the Switch launch titles as of now.
- 1-2-Switch
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- Super Bomberman R
- The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+
- Skylanders: Imaginators
- Just Dance 2017
However, it’s worth noting that Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo of America, has stated that the launch selection isn’t the “be-all and the end-all”. According to him, the company is concentrating on “steady pacing of content”. That way, Switch players will feel like they’ve made a good decision, and incentivize more people to make the purchase. at least, that’s what the company thinks. I hope they’re staying away from Internet comments.
That doesn’t mean you should avoid the comments! Feel free to tell us how you feel about the Switch, its launch lineup, and Afterbirth+ being a launch title!
