Neverwinter Nights Enhanced Edition Release Date Revealed

Neverwinter Nights originally launched in 2002, to critical acclaim. It won multiple awards, and gamers loved it, too. It continued the tradition of high-quality Dungeons & Dragons-based RPGs of the time. It also got various expansions and re-releases, including the Diamond Edition, which basically comes with all the extra content that was released for Neverwinter Nights over the years. Now, after the likes of Baldur’s Gate, Baldur’s Gate 2, and Planescape: Torment, it’s time for Neverwinter Nights to get a proper face-lift.

The company behind the production of Neverwinter Nights Enhanced Edition is Beamdog, who also helmed the aforementioned remasters of classic D’n’D RPGs. And, in a recent stream, they’ve finally announced the launch date for their update of Neverwinter Nights. It’s coming out on March 27th on Steam. According to the Steam page, Neverwinter Nights Enhanced Edition will contain everything that the Diamond Edition does, plus enhanced features. This includes an improved display, advanced graphic options, and backwards compatibility with existing save games, modules, and mods.

Now, this is only what is on the Steam page, when it comes to the enhanced edition. Beamdog have come under fire before for rewriting and adding characters and other elements in their remasters. Needless to say, it did not go over well. The whole ordeal was incredibly messy, and I don’t want to go into the politics of it all. I just hope that, if they do decide to add stuff of their own, they hire talented writers that can integrate the new elements into the existing framework.
