NBA 2K19 20th Anniversary Edition to Feature LeBron James on Cover
2K Games has announced the 20th Anniversary Edition of NBA 2K19. Yes, the NBA 2K series is now twenty years old, and I, in turn, feel ancient now. Anyway, the 20th Anniversary Edition will feature a whole host of in-game items and physical stuff. The cover athlete of the special edition will be none other than LeBron James.
Another year, another NBA 2K game. The series is going to be twenty years old next year, making NBA 2K19 a landmark entry in the series. Appropriately enough for such a seminal title, the athlete that will feature on the game’s cover will be LeBron James. He seems to be pretty excited about this, saying: “It’s humbling to be on the 20th anniversary cover of a game I’ve played and loved since I was a little kid. We were able to do something really unique for the cover that represents everything that drives me and inspires me – from my family to where I come from and words I live by. I’m honored my journey can be part of this special time in 2K history and I’m excited for fans to see it.”
Needless to say, the 20th Anniversary Edition will also feature a bunch of bonus in-game items, as well as some physical stuff (not included with the digital purchase, of course). According to the press release, the in-game items will include 100.000 Virtual Currency, 50.000 MyTEAM Points, 20 MyTEAM League Packs (one a week), and 10 MyTEAM Heat Check Packs (also delivered once a week, starting with the beginning of the NBA season). LeBron-themed items include a Sapphire LeBron James MyTEAM Card, a LeBron MyCOURT design, 5 LeBron-themed murals for MyCOURT, and 25 pairs of Nike LeBron apparel & footwear, aka King’s Collection.
As for the physical items, the 2K19 20th Anniversary Edition comes with a LeBron NBA 2K19 poster, an NBA 2K sticker sheet, and a custom wristband with “LeBron’s chosen words” on it. If this seems enticing to you, you’ll be able to pick it up starting September 7th for €99.99. The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will get both the digital and physical version, while PC and the Switch will just get the digital version. As for the Standard version will become available on September 11th on all platforms (only digitally on the Switch). And, if you want a head start,m you’ll be able to play NBA 2K19: The Prelude starting August 31st on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
