Mortal Kombat 11 Beta Launch Date Revealed for Late March

During the whole Mortal Kombat 11 hullabaloo, the folks from NetherRealm Studios have revealed the launch date for the game’s beta. As it turns out, the beta will be happening almost a full month ahead of the game, in late March. In order to participate, you’ll have to preorder any edition of Mortal Kombat 11. I’ll never be one to say that you should preorder. If you do, though, you’ll also get to play as Shao Khan, which is something, I suppose.

So, after the huge reveal of Mortal Kombat 11, do you want to get into the, well, kombat, as soon as possible? Well, you’ll be able to. The Mortal Kombat 11 beta will take place around a month before the game’s actual launch in late April. Specifically, the beta’s launch date is Thursday, March 28th. How do you get access to the beta? By pre-ordering the game, unfortunately. At least that’s not the only thing you get for preordering; it also unlocks Shao Khan as a playable character. So, if you’re impatient to play, you know what to do. If you’re on the fence, well, you have about two months or so to make your decision. Note that you can preorder any version of the game and get into the beta. If you want more info, check out our article about Mortal Kombat 11 preorder bonuses & special edition content.

In other MK11 news, a part of the game’s roster has also been revealed. As usual, there’s all the fan favorites, plus a sprinkling of new faces for flavor. The confirmed returning characters include Scorpion, Sub Zero, Raiden, Sonya Blade, and others, plus Baraka and Skarlet making a return from Mortal Kombat 9. The new characters are Kronika, some manner of time goddess, and her servant, Geras. Geras fights using time control powers and sand (see what they did there?). We can’t say for sure if Kronika is going to be a playable character, but I have a sneaking suspicion that she will feature prominently as the game’s final boss. Mortal Kombat 11 is coming out on April 23rd 2018, on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
