NetherRealm Studios have announced that the first skin pack of the MK11 Aftermath expansion, Summer Heat, is coming out on August 6th. It includes three skins for Baraka, Kitana, and Erron Black. This is the first of three packs included in Aftermath; the other two, Klassic Femme Fatale and All Hallow’s Eve, will launch on August 25th and October 8th, respectively.

Mortal Kombat 11 Announces New Summer-Themed Character Skin Pack

So, let’s unpack this skin pack real quick, shall we? First, we’ve got Edenian Summer Kitana, which is just the princess of Edenia wearing some flowing, summer clothes. Then, we have Off the Bone Baraka, dressed for a cookout from Hell. It even includes a gross-looking sausage chain that he wears as a bandolier. Lastly, there’s Fireworks Erron Black, which is supposed to be patriotic, but just makes him look like an extra from Bioshock Infinite. Plus, it’s about a month too late, you can’t have Independence Day stretch out like Christmas.

Reminder: the Mortal Kombat Aftermath expansion includes three new playable characters (Sheeva, Fujin, and Robocop), the skin packs mentioned above, some new story missions, and the “Thanks a Million” skin for Johnny Cage, which is already out. All of this can be yours for an admittedly pretty steep price of $40. That’s a lot for ten skins, three characters and a bit of story. Or, you can get the Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath + Kombat Pack Bundle for $50, which is the better deal.

However, the best deal by far is getting the Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath Kollection, which includes the full game, Aftermath, and all the other DLCS and packs for $60. This caused a lot of contention among the fans, since they spent way more money to get all this. I completely understand the frustration. However, if you haven’t bought Mortal Kombat 11 yet, it’s the best time to do so.
