Metroid Dread Special Edition
Metroid Dread, has been confirmed for the Nintendo Switch, and it will also feature a Special Edition. This new Metroid title was revealed during the Nintendo Direct E3 2021 presentation. The full game is set to release on October 8th 2021, and you will be able to pre-order a snazzy Special Edition which includes some great bonus goodies. A direct sequel to 2002’s Metroid Fusion on the Game Boy Advance, this will be the first new Metroid 2D entry in almost twenty years. Metroid Dread will have Samus take on a terrifying new enemy – the robotic E.M.M.I. Judging by the trailer, Samus won’t be able to damage this creature, and will be forced to run for her life instead. A significant part of the game will no doubt revolve around coming up with new ways to evade E.M.M.I., while still exploring the environment.
What Can You Get in Metroid Dread Special Edition?
The Special Edition will give you the game itself, a steel game case, 190-page artbook, and art cards featuring all five games from the 2D saga. Besides these, you will also be able to purchase an amiibo two-pack. This pair consists of Samus’ new look, as well as the new E.M.M.I. foe. The Special Edition has already sold out from a number of online retail stores, but Nintendo will no doubt restock these before the October 8th 2021 launch date.
Judging from the trailer, we are in for a classic Metroid treat, with lots of new abilities and challenging gameplay and puzzles. Since Metroid Prime 4 is still a ways away, we can hardly wait to try out Metroid Dread on the Nintendo Switch. This will be the first Metroid entry on the Nintendo Switch and we are looking forward to seeing how the game will play and feel on that console system.
