Lords of the Fallen is a Dark Souls-like action RPG that launched in 2014 for all major platforms, even for Android and iOS in 2017. While the game didn’t exactly become a smash hit, it still managed to build a following. However, the sequel has been having some trouble getting off the ground. Among other things that happened was the firing of Tomasz Gop, who was the main man behind the first part.

Now, the good news is that the developers are still working on the game, as Marek Tyminski of CI Games told Eurogamer recently. The bad news is that it won’t be coming out in 2017, like they originally aimed to do. He explained why:

We have a very small team working on Lords of the Fallen sequel.

Fortunately, CI Games isn’t giving up on Lords of the Fallen 2. They’re apparently looking for partners to develop alongside with. The main contender seems to be Deck13 Interactive, who they worked with on the first Lords of the Fallen. Incidentally, Deck 13 are the people behind the sci-fi Dark Souls-like The Surge. Bottom line, Tyminski is still optimistic as far as Lords of the Fallen 2 goes:

I wouldn’t say it’s a couple of years away. We’ve been working quite a lot on Lords of the Fallen 2, we really did a lot. It’s really finding the best teams who can work on that game together, and when we have that setting, we pretty much know what we want to do.

So, all of you that are looking forward to the sequel of Lords of the Fallen, you can still keep the hope up. You’ll just have to stay patient for a while.
