Hades Blood Price Update Adds More of Everything

Hades, the underworld escape roguelike from the team behind Bastion & Transistor, just received its eleventh major update. It’s called The Blood Price, and it adds more of pretty much everything to a game that’s already bursting at the seams. More importantly, it’s the last update before launch, which is supposed to take place before the end of the year. Read on to see what’s new.

Hades Blood Price Update Adds More of Everything

Charon has been “finally unmasked”, whatever that means. Probably a nice story bit. He now has new inventory both in the shops and wells. While we’re talking about story bits, there’s more than 3500 new voice lines, with new events for almost every character – it’s the biggest update to the story yet, so we presume it’s going to be a tasty one.

Three new weapon aspects have been added – one for the shield, one for the bow and one for the not-so-thinly veiled machine gun. You can unlock them by talking to certain deities after you’ve fulfilled some other requirements. If you want detailed info on that, check out the full patch notes on Supergiant’s site.

Then there’s the new boons – each Olympian has got at least one, and every weapon has been enriched with new Daedalus Hammer upgrades. To top it off, there are now duo boons for each possible pairing – which will make for a lot of skill combo experimentation.

They’ve also added new enemies across all areas, new mini-bosses and a hidden boss. The boss is so hidden that not even the changelog lists it. Guess we’ll just have to dive in and find out – and to think I uninstalled the game mere weeks ago.

There have been numerous tweaks under the hood, changes to stuff like the pact of punishment, the fated list of minor properties, the mirror of night, keepsakes, and much more. Basically, if you’ve played it before, it may be time to give it another go.
